Walmart Canada will charge customers 5 cents for plastic bags

Walmart Canada will begin to charge customers in British Columbia five cents for every plastic bag, from February 9, 2016. Over the coming months all Walmart Canada stores will charge customers for the use of plastic bags.
The reusable bags will be sold for 25 cents. Walmart Canada has a zero waste commitment, and with this move the company expects to be closer of achieving this target.
Walmart Canada affirms that it has already removed 72% of its waste from municipal landfills. Some of the revenue from the plastic bag fee will be used to support plastic film recycling initiatives.
Walmart is the biggest retailer in the world, with about $500 billion in revenues, ahead of warehouse club retailer Costco and Carrefour from France.
